When talking about or working with phosphoric acid (85%), it needs to be recognized that at least some of the orthophosphoric acid is condensed into polyphosphoric acids in a temperature-dependent equilibrium, but for simplicity of labeling, the 85% figure represents H3PO4 as if it were all orthophosphoric acid. Other percentages are possible, even >100% phosphoric acid.
