Cloud Point Glycol is a specially formulated glycol-based additive used in drilling fluids to control shale hydration, reduce water activity, and improve wellbore stability. It works by interacting with water-sensitive shales and clays, minimizing swelling, dispersion, and related drilling problems such as tight hole and stuck pipe. The “cloud point” characteristic allows the glycol to become more active at specific temperatures, improving performance in demanding drilling conditions.
