Drilling Mud Lubricants and Spotting Fluids are specially formulated blends of lubricating
agents, surface-active additives, and wetting agents designed to reduce friction between the
drill string and formation. They also help in freeing differentially stuck pipe and improving
overall drilling efficiency.
APPLICATION :
Used in water-based, oil-based, and synthetic-based muds to reduce torque, drag, and mechanical
sticking. Spotting fluids are pumped as pills across stuck zones to penetrate filter cake,
reduce differential pressure, and assist in freeing stuck pipe.
ADVANTAGES :
Significantly reduces torque and drag in deviated and horizontal wells.
Improves rate of penetration (ROP) by lowering frictional resistance.
Very effective in differential sticking situations when used as spotting pills.
Compatible with a wide range of mud systems (product dependent).
Easy to mix and apply at the rig site.
Helps protect drill string and BHA from excessive wear.
SPECIFICATIONS :
Standard lubricant and spotting fluid grades exhibit the following general characteristics.
